Friends not showing on line, is there a problem with SL?

My friends list is complete dark even though many are on line. I must click on them and chat before they will appear in the list. I tried SL Viewer (normal viewer for me) and Firestorm which is my back up viewer. I have tried on two CPU's and a different internet connection., All is the same, so it is not my equipment. Where could the problem be? Thank you.

Hi Kyle,

This problem has been plaguing people seemingly forever. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a solution. The problem seems to come and go. Hopefully it will tire of bothering you and move elsewhere.

similar to what i am experiencing. I suspect the asset servers are not synched properly(just a guess) and will LL staff severely cut according to some anecdotes  the problems can only get worse not better.;-(
