MeyganaMay
The new Second Life viewer won't install for me. I also uninstalled the old version. It keeps on saying that it can't download for some odd reason. Asks me to retry or abort. Well I press retry keeps on giving me the same message. Whirly Fizzle
The install from the automatic update can often fail - it's a bit tetchy. Are you able install by downloading the installer directly from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ ?
Nalates Urriah
When you ask a tech question include information about your computer and viewer. Get the info from the viewer's Help-About... and paste that into your post with your question. Help->About... provides all the version numbers we need. To add your info to an existing question use OPTIONS->EDIT. It’s in the upper right of your post. Otherwise, on Windows click Start and type DXDIAG, case doesn’t matter. That will open the dxdiag in the panel. It will give you your system specs. We need to know: video driver version, OpenGL version, … The viewer is not going to install on Windows XP SP2. Soon it will not install on XP SP3 or Vista. And also Win7 without the latest service pack. I've forgotten when those new restrictions kick in. Firestorm is also going to start refusing to install on older operating systems too. see their blog for details. If that is not the problem, check your network connection to the SL servers. Having a good Internet connection is not the same as having a good connection to the SL servers. http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/
