So I new to Second Life, and I have yet to even play it for that matter. I keep getting this error I I think I've exhausted the possible solutions within my knowledge; and nothing seems to be working.
I much appreciate the assistance.
Windows 7 32&64bit.

reset your router to factory default, it will change your ip and set to normal again

I do have the same problem: On trying to connect, I get "DNS could not resolve the host name".
1. The internet-connection is ok. Normal webbrowsers do work.
2. The same problem with SL-Viewer 2 and Firestorm Viewer!
3. Problem to connect with WI-FI but also with Ethernet. So no WI-FI problem
4. On the same network, with a windows7 computer, SL can connect. So, no router problem
I do only have this issue with mac osx 10.7.3
Could it be that mac osx doesn't allow those viewers to connect to the internet?

I had to manualy configure the DNS. This solved the problem.

How do you manually configure your DNS...
I have been getting this Can't Resolve Host Name, DNS error since Friday on almost all of my SL viewers, Astra, SL version 3, Firestorm, Singularity...I can log in on Cool VL Viewer, but that's not a great viewer for taking photos from. I'm also afraid that this problem will start to effect this viewer since it started effecting the other ones out of thin air.
I have a new high speed modem that is also a router, and called my internet service provider and they tested it and it's working fine, I am not having any trouble with anything else on all 3 of my computers except Second Life on this computer.
I even replaced the wire from the computer to the modem to see if that would fix things, and it didn't.
I installed a new version of SL, the Project Viewer - Simple Inventory, and it is getting the same DNS error.
I'm running window XP and any help anyone can give me to help fix this would be greatly appreciated.

This is a long running SL problem. Try a couple of these fixes
If that doesn't do it file a ticket. Good luck.

Why are you telling people what you did and not how you did it??
