to the people being angry: calm down folks. I understand you are all annoyed by this. However, take in mind that many big services on the net, have lots of outages/problems too. (e.g. Amazon cloud services, Hotmail, reddit, even google)

Although one thing i do agree on: LindenLab should inform us right away, not after 10 or more minutes. Also there should be an automatic system, that prevents residents to make transactions, rezzing no copy objects and the like. (they can build that in quite easily, by using thresholds that are triggered, and once they do, they disable certain "modules" full automaticaly).

Attention: Getting numerous reports about things not working either in SL or Marketplace. LINDEN LAB & ITS LAG REASON

LL has decided to switch to a new provider, but they have forgotten that they have so many servers and are now having problems due to the fact that the new provider cannot handle all the servers that LL has, thus they are working on half power.
This is why when we drive around in a large group the LL server cannot handle the amount of people, many clubs have the same problem over certain numbers of people. This has nothing to do with the sims.

Quoted from a sim owner who apparently knows someone that knows about this issue.

Agreed, Emily. After just over five years here I'm like 'Yeeeeep. Same old shiz'.

I do agree with the panic about the grid status thingies being posted late though. It's a bit silly to have us all sitting here with big ? above our heads when someone could just go

'blahblahblah stuff's gone a bit pear shaped back asap' when they realise they have a problem.

This is just LL though. This is the way they roll.

I view them rather like a mischevious, semi annoying yet beloved pet:

"Oh you! Just broke my priceless ming vase you little scamp! But I love you!"

xD

@ katarina Sonnerstein:

I don't buy it. A serious service provider (like Lindenlab) won't change provider over night. And furthermore, they have a few huge transit uplinks (like e.g. level3). If it was as that person told you, it would mean a huge set of servers would be uplink less (or even powerless), that would be the weirdest thing to do, migrating location, in one go, and forgetting many cabinets full of machines. I simply don't buy it.

Infact i'm sure they have their own suite, inside a DC. With their own peers and transits, nothing more: becoming their own full providers, with their own AS etc. Switching provider (as in removing a peer/transit connection, or exchanging one) wouldn't have much impact (since they have redundant connectivity).

Would a Mod here even understand what that is.
