Historical sims, time travelers unite!

(continued from the old forum)

The best bit about second life to me is the possibility to do what I've always wanted to do but never could; travel back in time.
But as someone who is obsessed with history, I am not looking for romantic, fantasy versions of the past.
I want to feel like I am really there, the real past, the gritty not always pretty past.
I understand that many others prefer the nice lovely version of history, but its not for me.

So let us use this topic to share LM's, descriptions and names of Historical sims.
There was a list on the old forum but I can no longer find it. :smileysad:
And yes of course I will insert my own sim in the list eventually, I am subtle that way :smileywink:
I would like to create a chronologic list of Historically themed sims, each sim rated as authentic, fantasy or something else we may think of.
Example;

Deadwood 1876
Authentic
Western themed roleplay sim
Dresscode
Mature rating
http://www.theroadtodeadwood.com/
What do you think?
Wouldn't it be great to have a (hopefully long) list of authentic & fantasy Historically themed sims like this?
Just copy paste and add your own or other sims you've visited.

Timetraveling.. its a cool roleplay idea.

However, a time traveler would be breaking the rules of most historical sims because it would be seen to be breaking the theme of the sim.

Have you actually tried it?

As a professional RL timetraveler I can tell you that it is very important NOT to stand out or intervene.

So if you do it right, nobody will ever suspect you are not one of the locals :smileywink:

There was a professor from a university collecting the locations of geographic and historic recreations in SL way back in the old old forums.  I'm not sure how up to date it is but I found his website with a nice listing of sims.

I like you the best but please don't tell the others.

What a great list, Joshooah. Thanks for posting it.

I didn't see Mont Saint Michelle listed, which is very nice & was shown on HBO's  "When Strangers Click".

I'm espeically interested in ancient historical recreations. The Minoan Empire is a good one.

I've looked for ancient Sumerian sims, but found next to nothing.  Plently of ancient Egyptian ones, though.

(Edit added 3-5-11)

The 2 sims I listed above are on the list. I just didn't see them earlier.

I sent a quick email to the prof, whose website I linked to earlier in case he wanted to add to his list with any other contributions others may have. :smileyvery-happy:
