correct me if i am wrong, and i am sure someone will, but don't you have to add resident to that when logging in?

I have days my net is just too slow to connect. They're few and far between thankfully, but that is the message I get when it happens.

with the right proxy settings it normally is possible to enter sl, perhaps make a call to support..and pray you get the right guy/girl at the other end... they will be able to help.

Also, make sure you are not using a public computer such as one in a library.  You must use your personal computer to connect to SL.

If you have trouble logging into Second Life, using the same settings that worked yesterday, check the "grid status" before assuming you're crazy.  SL goes through these bouts of networking incompetence (or is it incontinence?) where the system just doesn't work very well for random groups of people.  Sometimes the Lindens will even admit it in a Grid Status report.

Today has been particularly problematic, they did their usual round of "rolling restarts" to introduce new bugs (and sometimes features, even more rarely bug fixes) into the systems and the grid hasn't really recovered yet, after 12 hours.
