rigged mesh feet shift when on/off pose stands

the subject line says it.

I've got big (clown) feet and I've rigged it just right (ankle join hardly shows) when standing on a pose box but as soon as I stand off it, the feet shift forward 1 or more centimeters but pop right bck in place when I get back on the stand. WHY?

I would try playing different animations with it, and see what happens. If I just take what you are saying here, it sounds like the bone length in the animation in the pose stand is different.

You were right. My avatar is fine. The pose stand was  the problem.
