is it possible to make a cloth fall over a cube, pause the animation

then delete the cube & floor, and save the cloth in it's current shape

as a mesh object?

i tried this, with floor, cube, and cloth as seperate objects, and ran the

simulation ... but when i click "apply" to the cloth modifiers, or switch back to edit mode...

the cloth goes back to it's original position &  mesh plane shape...

do i need to "bake" the animation frame somehow?

thanks for any answers :)

YES. LOTS of videos on Youtube. Just search Google. I found several easily when I was looking some time back. I have fogotten the steps now sure you can find the whole process in a tutorial.

Found one in my Youtube history.

I THINK that was a good one. A start anyway. Good luck.

Yes.  All you have to do is freeze the animation at the frame you want to preserve and then convert the image to mesh with Alt + C.  You have to be in Object Mode. Then you can go ahead and remove your cube and work with the cloth object as you would with any other mesh object.
