Another weird Blender thing

ETA: Nevermind the below, these have shape keys. I made this stuff myself and dont even know what a shape key is, but I must have added it. I guess? In my sleep?  I will leave this here for the benefit of other sleepwalking Blender users.

 

This is how my pear looks in Edit and in Object mode.  I did CTL A.  It is not just the pear but all the items in my cornucopia.  I tried moving them and rotating the a little while they were joined so I unjoined them, same thing.
