What about useful statistics?

What about some improvements on marketplace statistics? Sorry to say, but currently the statistic reports are not much more than a first prototype. My very basic suggestions:

Top selling products:

  • Much more useful when related to a time period (last week, month, year).

Top searched products:

  • More useful when related to a time period (last day, week, month, year).
  • It's most interesting which keywords were used to find a product. Since these keywords were already used in the product, listing them in the statistics wouldn't disclose much about the search function and competitor's keywords.

Listing Enhancement Performance:

  • How many clicks were actually leading to a sale? I would run many more ads if I could get instant confidence about the ones that are actually working ("working" means: earnings significantly higher than ad fees).
  • Please let us delete obsolete entries.

Overall, flat numbers are useless if you don't set them into relation to other numbers (that's what I would call statistics).

The SLX/XStreet stats page was pretty much perfect - gave you daily numbers of  views and sales for each product in table and graph format.

Was very easy to measure the effect of any enhancements or other advertising from just that.

The assumption is that we are all playing "Merchant".  Kind of like playing Vampire or Star Wars.

Yeah, but even for playing merchant I could use some advanced controls.

I am playing merchant otherwise I would be going to knock on some basement doors.. the crap that some of these play merchants get away with is something to be admired.

Many of us from the MP Merchant community have asked the LL Commerce team countless times to AT MINIMUM restore the MP sales / traffic stats and graphs that the old Xstreet had.  AT LEAST... since even the old Xstreet stats were far from considered modern day statistics that are available elsewhere.

What did the upgraded / overhauled MP provided us merchants as an advancement of services over Xstreet regarding stats and reporting?  No graphs.  No week by week or Day by Day sales/traffic breakdowns.  No histograms.  No trending.  All we got now is a continually growing count of sales and views/searches from MP inception.

We all know LL has the statistics in the MP system.  Why not even integrate a GOOGLE ANALITICS plugin for our pages so Merchants can get a better idea of what demographics of customers are visiting which one of our product listings?  What time of day?  What day of week?  What period of the year?

The only responses we have got from Brooke on this back in the spring was the death blow of it might be a future activity and that Brooke would rather not offer advanced reporting but instead just give us more of the data.  Well I disagree with the "just give out more raw data" since a large portion of Merchants are not that advanced in selling on ecommerce sites and they need an effective simple to use reporting tool from MP.   AND... even on this limited promise from Brooke on providing us more reporting data.... where is that?  She hasnt even provided that.

So... as much as this thread is ONCE AGAIN saying how advanced sales and site traffic reporting would be a great idea....  its been asked for countless times and LL Commerce has made it clear a year after MP was released.... IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN.

MP is the devolution of an ecommerce site.  LL Commerce's goal... you reduce SL Ecommerce options, features for the same commission they charged all of us when we had Xstreet.   What a unique concept LL  -.taking on a strategy of offering less and less for same charges.

Let me just point out again that they can't hide the fire while showing you the smoke.
