Zindra, the great unfinished continent!?!?!?

Ok so...  A few weeks ago I decided to go mainland and purchased a nice little 1024sqm plot over on Zindra.  Its got an ocean view and *gasp* roadway access!  I was thrilled, well...  Until I dug out my little VW Beetle from the depths of my inventory and started driving around...  It wasn't long before I began to realize that LL seems to have never actually gotten around to finishing the roads and waterways and such...

Silly question, but does anyone know if they're still working on this?  Has the project been scrapped?  Given that the continent has been around since 2009 it seems kind of odd to find roads that end at a bare sim edge...

Any ideas?  Any Lindens still around with some answers?  :)

right, it may never be finished unless for some reason a big surge in demand for adult mainland came up.

there is a "secret" unpaved road to get around the missing connection in the southeast of the continent.

Thanks Obvious for the tip!    As for finishing this thing, I can only hope they at least make a last ditch effort to "cludge" it for the sake of making things look a bit less well...  Ok, maybe a lot less messy compared to the older parts of the mainland...

Well.... Zindra's not the only mainland continent unfnished either, and the other's been unfinshed much longer (locate Gaeta 1 or use the SLURL here ~~> http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//255/1/23 ). Fact is, anyone who has looked around mainland recently can tell you there is a lot more land available than anyone wants to buy, and with mainland prices now at rock bottom it isn't likely even LL will be silly enough to put more of it on the grid.

 

In fact, the smartest thing LL could do is start elimenating mainland continents. Anyone still living on a continent phased out could be offered comprable land on another continent. While it's doubtful this would bring back value to land, it might free up some servers and allow LL to put those resources to better use elsewhere, maybe they wouldn't actually have to pack so many SIMs onto each server. But of course, I'm sure I'm not the smartest guy around and there's some logical reason LL wouldn't do this.

Region Idling is now grid-wide, and has been for several years. Regions that don't have any avatars on them, or looking in from neighboring regions, will go idle. This means they run very slowly, so they don't use many server resources. They speed up to normal as soon as an avatar enters or even just looks in.

Moving people to a different continent would be very disruptive. Many residents could just quit rather than move. Not a good idea if it can be avoided.
