the
dark wooded run
a thousand thorny limbs
knobby fingers clutch my heart
to drive me dangerously down
toward tearing thicket
tortured timber
kicking
biting
slashing
screaming
pulled through
the dark wooded run

Thanks, UT... I'm a (questionably good) songwriter, so lyrics kind of come naturally (with a bit of work) to me, to think I could write a piece of poetry that people actually like, just amazes me.  Poetry and lyrics are two completely different creatures.  I'm quite proud of this poem, but I know very well that it's more of a fluke than anything else.  Neither you, nor anyone else that likes my poem enough to vote for it, realizes how much your support for me, means to me.  I'm truly honored and humbled by all of your and everyone else's reactions.  Thank you... from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks, Val.

@Emmett: It's my belief that what the reader gets out of a poem is more important than what the author put into it... as such, the "plot," if there is any, rests entirely within your own perception of it. Thanks for your kind words.

Hi Dres, I have only just come across your poem, love it ! As you say, each reader may interpret it in a completely different way, well done
