You really missed the meaning of this song. It was written in remembrance of Jonathan Melvoin who was the keyboardist for Smashing Pumpkins that overdosed on heroin and died... The person in the song commits suicide by drug overdose. This is not a feel good song. A better song choice would have been Don't Stop Believing by Journey.
You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Really? I never knew that. That song always made me feel better when I was sad.
I think a lot of songs may be inspired/written for a particular purpose or experience but then they are interpreted by and applied to the listeners own personal experiences.
I'll have to look up Journey.

It was accident wasn't it? Not a suicide. Neal, what did you mean to never quit believing in?

Oh! I know that song! It's one of the best Glee songs I think, they played it on Oprah and The X factor too.

if one reads the lyrics it makes more of an impact that it is not a happy song. Sorry to change it for you....
Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance,
For a break that would make it okay.
There's always some reason
To feel not good enough,
And it's hard, at the end of the day.
I need some distraction,
Oh, beautiful release.
Memories seep from my veins.
Let me be empty,
Oh, and weightless,
And maybe I'll find some peace tonight.
[Chorus]
In the arms of the angel,
Fly away from here,
From this dark, cold hotel room,
And the endlessness that you fear.
You are pulled from the wreckage,
Of your silent reverie.
You're in the arms of the angel,
May you find some comfort here.
So tired of the straight line,
And everywhere you turn,
There's vultures and thieves at your back.
The storm keeps on twisting.
Keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack.
It don't make no difference,
Escape one last time.
It's easier to believe in this sweet madness,
Oh, this glorious sadness,
That brings me to my knees.
[Chorus]
You're in the arms of the angel,
May you find some comfort here.
You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

they never confirmed nor deny whether it was suicide or not... personally i feel anyone using illegal drugs is committing suicide.

Yes, I know the words, that to me is one of the reasons I think that in times of sadness it is a kind of comfort. Kind of like knowing you aren't the only one that has ever been sad, or down, or having a bad times of things.
Much better than listening to something upbeat when you are sad, sometimes happy songs when you are sad makes you, or me rather, mad or even more unhappy because it is like, how can you be so cheerful at a time like this? lol ![]()
