Private Regions (Islands)

Private Regions (Islands) offer the most flexibility and privacy to support your Second Life needs. There are three different Private Region product offerings:

  • Full Regions are the premier island product. These regions can handle the most avatars and scripts and offer the highest performance.
  • Homestead Regions have lower performance than Full regions and are intended for low-density rentals, quiet residential or light commercial use. Only available to Residents who own at least one Full Region.
  • Openspace Regions are intended for scenery, such as forest, countryside or ocean. Only available to Residents who own at least one Full Region.

For more information on region types, billing and payment, check out the Knowledge Base articles listed on the right.

For Residents of European Union countries, Value Added Tax (VAT) will be assessed in addition to estimated fees where applicable.

Well, that all depends.

If you wish to purchase the highest performance product out there then you need a Full Region which has an ongoing maintenance cost of $295.00 USD / Month. Pros: Excellent Performance, Usually no adjoining regions [thus no neighboring region information sharing required], up to 65 avatars per region [effectively], Region/Estate Tools, You can schedule Region restarts as needed. Bonus: after purchasing one of these you may add Homesteads and/or Open spaces around it.

I recommend you getting one of these on the Used Market in order to save a significant; amount of cash up front. Here is a link to a great discussion regarding purchasing Used Full Regions:

The next level option for you is to obtain a full Mainland Region which has an ongoing maintenance cost of $195.00 USD / Month. These are bought and sold on the SL Land Auction Block. Pros: Reasonable Performance, up to 40 avatars per region  [LL Mandated limit], Limited Region Tools.

Along with BUYING a sim, you might also look at renting one. Not quite as good as having your own, but very little or no investment and  you can see if you really enjoy having a RP sim. I often see folks set one up to find out no one comes :D.

Just a thought.

I have a full private region available for sale very very cheap.  Pay the $100 USD transfer fee and take over the $295 Monthly Tier and it's yours.  I no longer have enough time to be online anymore so I want to give it up.  I'm not looking ot make a profit.  No strings, just a free sim if you can afford the monthly tier and want to do it.  IM me inworld to reply.  Caesar Vayandar.
