Thanks for the effort and sharing of code! I do wonder if anonymouse.org may not want you to use this if it has advertising, because you are not seeing the ad and that is sometimes a revenue source. But, I have to admit that the other solutions I have seen are sort of slow, unautomated or require offline website or appengine (or whatever google calls thier app cloud thingy these days) and that is beyond the normal amont of time anyone would want to spend on this.

Having said that, he php code using app engine does seem good, since PHP is also provided in the wiki I assume this may also work for people who like that. But, all that is mentioned here:http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Name2Key_in_LSL AND maybe this code may also be added to the wiki? This is sort of the official page for this type of code, but I think the page is missing the other bits that lay around or they are simply linked.

Maybe even put a link and the same code under your name at the wiki, such as the way a few people have. LIke here, this contains the app code I mentioned before: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Takat_Su/Name2Key

Not only that, but I remember seeing a few sites (2-3) that had databases, though I can't remember any of the addresses. At least one of those said they may work a deal with anyone wanting to use thiers for more than just a few lookups and I imagine any code using that and giving a plug to them may bring business thier way...or maybe it may just upset them lol. Better to ask. Wish I could remember it, but I have to go now.

For whatever reason vwrsearch is now responding as expected. However, no updates on open Jira's that I am aware of.

http://vwrsearch.secondlife.com/client_search.php?session=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&s=People&q=Renae%20Daines

Would be nice to understand what took place and if it was an intended change that was rolled back or a failure on some other level that has just now (2 months later?) been fixed.

  • 1 month later...

Seems Jiras are being updated now, just got notification.
Have to say thank you Martin for providing the alternative... though I'm glad I didn't do a massive round of product updates that I now might have to revert, only changed a few of my own tools, simpler revert.
