You can only do this if the items are transferable.  You can't share or give away anything that is No Transfer.

There are many ways to transfer an item.

• Drag it from inventory and drop it on another avatar
• Or drop it on their nametag
• Or drop it into an open IM window with them
• Or drop it onto their profile picture
• Right click the item in inventory and choose Share from the context menu
• Click the Share button at the bottom of the inventory window
