Hi Ajadescott,

Making money in SL can be challenging, but if you've got good social skills, you might look into hosting. If you're a creator with 3D design skills and a good eye for fashion and/or architecture, you might try your hand selling goods in the marketplace. That will probably require some investment in advertising, though.

For additional ideas, peruse the Inworld Employment forum and read the Wiki.

Good luck!

Jobs fall into two categories:  Services and content creation.

Service jobs include things like club host/greeter, club security, exotic dancer, escort, teacher, estate manager, store model.

Content creation may be as simple as offering Second Life photography, or as complex as creating mesh objects or writing scripts, the small computer programs that make Second Life objects work.

Service jobs are low pay, usually for tips only.  Content creation generally means investing the time to learn the appropriate skills and then taking the risk of going into business for yourself.  Success is not guaranteed, but the top SL creators make quite a lot of money.  Some even make SL their full time job.
