Is there any way to remove a locked collar?

The owner of the collar hasn't been in-world in an unusually long time. I hope nothing happened in RL. But if she doesn't return, is there a way I can remove this collar?

Log on with the stock LL client, right click on the collar and pick detach.

It's the client that LL provides.  You get it from the Help/Downloads page on this website.

She meant, if you are using a viewer that supports RLV (Restrained Love Viewer) functions, you need to either turn them off or log in with a non-RLV viewer like the one supplied by Linden Lab when you register.  RLV can be set so as to prevent you from taking things off.

If, however, you're using Viewer 2.1.1, simply right click and Detach the collar.  It may say "locked"...that doesn't mean that it is.

LOL, yes "regular Viewer2" (or alternatively the older 1.23 if the UI for 2 is too off-putting).  You're welcome and good luck getting your collar all sorted.

What sort of collar is it?

If it's an OpenCollar, for example, you can simply say twrunaway and that should unlock it for you, RLV or not.
