MiaMackleby
Hopefully they will fix this soon. My new neighbor builds a wall of "batman" soundboxes around his home and cranks up the drumbeat. Come check it out, if you want to see a horrible attempt to get rid of peeps.Does this sort of thing happen often? What are the motivations? http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bagwyn/26/247/
Peggy Paperdoll
File an Abuse Report. Your neighbor can restrict sound to his/her parcel, and in this case, it appears they have purposely not done so. It could be (and, in my opinion is, a violation of the ToS.......harrassement comes to mind). If you are on estate land I would try contacting the Estate Manager first......if no help then the AR. On Mainland, go the AR route directly..........LL is the "Estate Manager" for all Mainland.
MiaMackleby
Thanks, Peggy. The report is filed. This post is more about why someone would do this.
Peggy Paperdoll
Why do people with $500 junker put a $3000 stereo system in their car and think I want to hear only the bass notes for some god foresaken rap song when we both are stuck in traffic (and I have my windows up)? I can't answer that question.
Amethyst Jetaime
They may be trying to drive you out so they can get your land. Further, if you decide to leave and want to sell your land you won't get any buyers with that going on so would be forced to abandon it or sell it real cheap. That is not allowed, but it goes on. That's why you should AR it.
Knowl Paine
You should include that this is a Linden Home. #1 reason for this type of building display, is to Grief others. This has nothing to do with Music. I'm a little surprised that LL has not yet removed the objects. Are you sure that the Batman boxes, belong to the Home owner? It does look like an attack. Land owner is one person, two months old, with full permissions to build (and so on), and no auto-return set. Cube owner is another person whose account is 12 days old. Interestingly, the 12 day old person who rezzed the griefing cubes has a surname/last name, which suggests they are not as n00b as they SL age would suggest, and probably make a habit of making new accounts with which to go a-griefing on land that has no auto-return set. To the OP, as to why people do this, it's just fun for them to disrupt others. Just like some people take great joy out of kicking down sandcastles, or damaging fences and walls or stealing cars in real life, your average Second Life griefer gets the same sort of thrill by upsetting other people, destroying what is good for other people, without even leaving their house. It's pathetic, but that's just the way it is. Human nature. :matte-motes-sour:
