Hello, I'm pretty new to Second Life.  I'm a big Oculus Rift enthusiast, and since I noticed there wasn't much discussion about SL in virtual reality, I figured I'd start a blog about my experiences.  I've been messing around with the headset for quite a while now, and so far SL has been one of the most powerful and insanely extensive worlds I've explored.  The possibilities of experience in it seem endless.

I'd be happy to discuss any aspect of my experience with VR in this thread.  It is endlessly fascinating to me.

Great blog!

I've shared your link on the Oculus Rift & Second Life facebook page;

And you may enjoy a trip to 1920s Berlin, we have an Oculus test area there and if you visit the city (in 1920s clothes) you'll find a build to scale city and every day at 2pm we're having drinks at the Biergarten.

Thank you.

I visited the Oculus test area briefly, though I'd like to spend a little more time there and maybe do some comparisons to areas that are a bit more strangely scaled.  Also I'll need to mess with my avatar's height a bit more I think.  Unfortunately I've gotten somewhat used to absurd scales with the many weird demos and retroffitted games I've tried.

I'll be sure to try and visit the Biergarten tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing your blog - I think the whole Occulus rift and SL thing is fascinating. I can't wait till OC is available to general consumers - I know you can get it as a developer, but I'm not one:( I'd love to try it though. I love the thought of more immersion in virtual worlds. The creativity and details of some builds that we see now is amazing - how much more so will it be with more immersion.....? I'm watching the development of this with interest, so will be interested to follow your adventures into this too:)

This post will probably only be of interest to those who already have the Rift, but I give a pretty detailed explanation of how I setup the viewer (CtrlAltStudio, not the LL beta) to comfortably stay within.  I had to spend a lot of time messing with settings and learning keyboard shortcuts before SL really felt playable, so I figured maybe it would save some people time or make it more accessible if I did a write-up of that.
