I've gone through the portals several times. I've looked around the start location. Maybe I am just being blind but I'm not seeing it.

Sometimes it doesn't attach for some reason. Try going through a different portal.

there is a way to get the hud if it's not loading if you go through a portal and it doesn't show not long after you land look to your right there will be a tree walk up to it you won't be able to walk through it so walk above it on the rocks going upwards there will be a point that tp's you back to the landing point and your HUD  will show up. i found this out by accident and use it every time my HUD fails to show when i enter any realms portal
