It seems this forum has become a second events list and a place to advertise venues. Does anyone report inappropriate posts? Does it work?

Yes you can report them.  If the moderators agree with you the post will be moved to the right subforum or deleted depending on what is appropriate.

Moderating a discussion site is a daunting task; our forums alone see in excess of 10,000 posts per week. You can help by reporting abuse when you spot it.
