multi-person chat and a conference

what is the difference between a multi-person chat and a conference and how do I do a conference?

I haven't heard the first term, but I would guess that that is the same. To start a conference, you just multiselect several ppl on your friendslist (shift + left click or ctrl + left click) and right click, there should be an option like 'conference chat' (not 100% sure, but you will see it). Depends on the viewer, you can even add people as soon the chat is open, there should be a + or add people button. A file chooser alike dialog will open where you can search and select poeple you want to add.
