When i type /me or ":" nothing shows up in Local.  It will work in a private Instant Message, but not in local.

Not broken - you're using RLV.

RLV allows people to gag or blindfold you, prevent you from teleporting or other things. It's likely that someone has prohibited your ability to use local chat.

If you want local chat back, you can Disable RLV in Preferences (Ctrl+P, but its exact location varies per viewer). Alternatively set the Debug Setting RestrainedLove = FALSE.

Then log out, and back in again.

You'll be able to use Local Chat normally while RLV is off, and you can safely detach whichever object is causing the restricton.
