Hi,

Welcome to Second Life. :)

The answer on your question is:

- Gimp ---->free! (you can dowload it from here: www.gimp.org)

- Photoshop

There are many tutorials for these programs available in Internet so you can learn them on your own. There are also many Gimp and Photoshop courses in Second Life. Search for them in events.

Have fun!

if you need tutorials Robin Sojourner does a great one along with a free t-shirt template at http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLPages/RSWTShirtLong1.html i also found http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/build.html has great tutorials they maybe several years old some if not many of them but it might still be good to know how to make prim shoes (no sculpts)

You have to do any texturing outside of SL with a program like Photoshop or GIMP and import your textures.  You can import temporary textures for free with the Imprudence, Phoenix, or Firestorm viewers, which is a great help when you are trying things out.  Otherwise, it costs you L$10 per upload (about 4 cents US).  You can build any prim clothing articles in world (most of us do), or you can make sculpty elements or clothing articles with Blender, Maya, or other 3D modelling software and import them too.  To start, read all of Natalia Zelmanov's excellent tutorials at http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/build.html .   They are well-written, well-illustrated, and just right for a beginner.

You might want to take some inworld building classes which you can find in events/education.

There are also good tutorials that have been linked here by other residents.  You can also find youtube tutorials.

Using classes and tutorials you will learn how to both build and texture your items.

The boxes to sell your products usually require pictures of the creation, some sort of graphic design and best if has your shop name too.  This will require you to use something like Gimp (free software) or Photoshop (not free).

Anytime you upload an image/texture you wish to keep it will cost you 10L (you can upload temporary pics free but these vanish when you log out)
