I understand the license also works on the Windows copy if you go to Silo and download that from... somewhere... on their site (the trial version I guess, and then apply a serial number to it).

It looks like files from Silo would still need to go through Blender or something at the end because, like every other 3D application on the planet, it does NOT support the format SL decided to require for... reasons...

I use Silo, and I wouldn't normally recommend it, but its worth $20.

  1. Its pretty unstable, particularly when working with UVs.
  2. It doesn't export DAEs, so yes you do have to go through Blender.
  3. Finally, its no longer supported by the developers, so its not going to get any better.

 

So yeah, for $20 its probably worth it. It is still a fully functional modelling app - its fast and highly customizable.
