Photoshop or Gimp texturing of clothing details

We used to discuss this sort of thing a lot in the old Texturing forum, so you'll find a pile of threads with useful tips if you go searching there.  As a starter, here's one:

You could also thumb through the sticky thread on Texturing Tips to see what's there.  I haven't done that for a while, so I forget.  It's sort of a grab bag.

Those archives were saved in 2010(?) when we went over to the current forum system, so they will of course refer to whatever version of Photoshop was current at the time (CS3, I think), but basic principles don't change.  You should be able to start with your baked texture map and keep adding overlays and adjustment layers to get the results you want.

Beyond that stuff, Google is your friend.  There's a lot out there.
