I've heard it's possible to change the pivot point of a torus. Does anyone know if that is true, or how to do it?

I want to make a toilet seat linked with a regular door script, if I can move the pivot point to an edge instead of the center. Otherwise, it will have to be unlinked from the toilet, and linked to a cylinder prim instead.

Thanks,

Pinky

No, but you can link it to a hinge prim that holds your door script. That should make the whole linkset rotate around the hinge.  Ideally, of course, you wouldn't use a torus at all.  You'll get a much nicer-looking toilet seat (and one with less L.I.) if you make a mesh one. As a side benefit, you can put the hinge anywhere you like it.

Here's a very detailed video tutorial that shows you how >>>

Once you play with it for a while, you'll realize that you can leave out a couple of the steps she shows you, or modify the technique to fit your own project better.  I've used it for doors of all kinds, lids for boxes, .... anything that needs an offset hinge.
