This is harder than it looks, isn't it?

Lots of creators provide ways to make it easier...a color matching HUD, or a notecard with RGB values for popular skins.  If your item comes with one of these, read the instructions that also came with it to find out how to use them.

If you're stuck with doing it manually, then first get the Develop menu up on your top menu bar.  CTRL+ALT+D to show the Advanced menu, then CTRL+ALT+Q to show the Develop menu.

Next, set your Sun Position to Midday in the World menu, and turn off Shadows in your graphics preferences, if they are turned on.  You want bright, flat, even lighting.

Now go to the Develop menu and look for the UI menu item.  There should be one in there called "Show Color Under Cursor".  Enable that, and look in the lower right of your screen.  There should be some small text showing the R,G,B values of the pixel under your mouse cursor.  Put your cursor over your skin in a few places, and try to come up with some average values.

Then, edit your item, and look in the Texture tab.  Set the color to the RGB values from the previous step.  This should get you in the ballpark, but you will still have to do some manual tweaking to get a match.

NOTE:  If you don't find "Show Colors Under Cursor" where I said to look, check other menus.  If all else fails, there is a Debug setting that will turn this information on.

This section is for asksing questions about SL itself. We do not provide support for products made by other residents because there are too many of them out there and it is impossible to be expert in all of them.

Read the instruction notecard that came with the product. If you didn't get instructions or don't understand them, you best bet is to contact the creator, their customer service reps or join their support group, if they have one, and ask for support there.
