Do users like buying 2D artwork of their characters?

As in artwork commissions that are not 3D? Custom artwork bought with RL money through paypal rather than money on SL? I'm not sure where to post theis as I can't really find a selling forum that's not about the uh In World or something. Maybe order a potrait or fanart and have someone make into an item that could be in the marketplace or something?

 

And if so is it possible? Where would I post information and samples?

You have stumped the forum undead with your post. Temporarily, that is.  There will doubtless be posts here before too long.

The big problem you have viz a viz doing art of resident avatars is that very good snapshots can already be taken inworld with varying windlight settings to produce impressive 'art' already.

Your best option is to perhaps do some portraits of avatars of club owners, sim owners, etc etc that can featured as pictures. posters inworld at these locations. That may well bring in some clients.

The lack of response may be something to do with your contravention of the ToS/CG regarding promotion of services in the forums outside the appropriate Commerce/Merchants section.

Or it may be that nobody here is particularly interested in encouraging your business idea.

Either way, you are wasting your time and that of the GD participants.
