Why are transfers to paypal so slow?

It seems to take forever to do a simple transfer of USD to Paypal.

On average, it takes 5 to 7 business days (that is, calendar days minus weekends and holidays).  Some of that is internal processing in Linden Lab and much of it is PayPal's processing time.  If you use PayPal much, you will have noticed that when you want to transfer funds from your PayPal account balance to your bank account, they tell you that it may take them 3 to 5 business days.  The bottom line is that most business accounts are not like ATM machines.  For whatever reason, they can't do instant transfer.

PayPal always likes to keep your money for awhile...to look at your money, pet them a bit before they give them away to you again
