i set up a paypal account, got money into it, and SL still asks for a credit card... whats the point of SL allowing paypal if it isnt ANY different from just giving your credit/debit... how do you give payment info without a card? isthere a way around it, can i talk to a linden?can i set up a premium membership this way?

you don't need a back-up credit card on file unless LL have changed things, around this time last year i was able to get PIOF and later go premium for a while with just a verified paypal account

It doesn't have to be on file with Linden Lab. It has to be on file with PayPal. The problem is that it takes PayPal a few days to get a transfer from a bank, and they won't send it to LL until THEY get it. That's why LL requires you to have the PayPal account backed by a credit card instead. PayPal and LL get their money instantly that way.
