Groups - this is regarding groups

Hello

I have the following groups

SL4 - U, SL4 - Me, SL4 - The Creative Team, SL4 - Management Team, SL4 - Designers & Bloggers, SL4 - Home & Garden, SL4 - Womens, SL4 - Mens...

It was brought to my attention that there is a SL4.ME

this is very similar to my SL4 - Me

how is this possible?

And what happens now please

Hello Max.

There is nothing wrong in this case.

You had create a group named "SL4 - Me"

while someone else created a group called "SL4.ME"

If you want to have a group that is not similar to anything else,

then you should first do a search and then create your group.

Of course, it will always be a chance that someone else will create something similar after you.

Exactly as it appears in what we call a Real Life, when Abibas has been created to compete Adidas,

here is a page i found in google that has post a lot of those "similarities"

My suggestion is: You simply forget about it. There is nothing to be afraid or consider of.

Just enjoy your secondlife, like you never had seen that other similar group existence.

Unless you have filed and obtained a RL trademark on the name of your groups there is nothing you can do because you don't own the name from a legal standpoint.  You probably couldn't get one anyway as LL owns 'SL' as a trademark when it pertains to Second Life.

Anyone can create a group with a similiar name, but the system will not allow anyone to create one exactly the same.

beethros is right. 

Once a group is created, the name cannot be reused, and never really goes away, even if the group is later dissolved.

You might want to put some information out to your group members and prospective members to make them aware of the group with the similar name, just so they don't try to join the wrong one.
